While Sidhu’s supporters have voiced their concerns about selective action being taken against him, no action has been taken against the organizers of the Bathinda and Hoshiarpur rallies. This has raised questions about the fairness and impartiality of the actions being taken.

Sidhu, who resigned as PCC chief on March 16, 2022, was also the subject of a disciplinary action recommendation made earlier in May 2022 by Harish Chaudhary, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) representative for Punjab at the time.
The disciplinary committee of the AICC is the only body empowered to take action against a former party president; the PCC is only authorized to take action against state leaders.
