‘Yuva Nidhi’ scheme to address the issue of unemployment
In a bid to address the issue of unemployment among the youth, the Congress-ruled state government in Karnataka has introduced its fifth guarantee, called ‘Yuva Nidhi.’ This scheme aims to provide a monthly unemployment allowance of Rs 3,000 for graduates and Rs 1,500 for diploma holders. The announcement was made by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at a function held at Freedom Park in Shivamogga.
Under the ‘Yuva Nidhi’ scheme, the unemployment allowance will be transferred directly to the bank accounts of those who are registered under the program. This move is aimed at ensuring transparency and efficiency in the disbursement of funds. By using direct bank transfer (DBT), the government aims to eliminate any intermediaries and ensure that the benefits reach the intended beneficiaries without any delays or leakages.
The introduction of this guarantee comes after the successful implementation of four other women-centric schemes by the state government. These schemes include free power supply up to 200 units per family, a cash benefit scheme of Rs 2,000 for female heads of households, free travel for women in state-run buses, and the provision of 10 kg of rice at a subsidized rate for families holding BPL/Antyodaya cards.
The Congress party, which came to power in Karnataka in May this year, is committed to addressing the various challenges faced by the people of the state. Unemployment is a major concern, especially among the youth who have completed their graduation or diploma courses. The ‘Yuva Nidhi’ scheme aims to provide financial support to these individuals while they search for suitable employment opportunities.

In front of a gathered crowd, Siddaramaiah, the Chief Minister of Karnataka, expressed his utmost satisfaction with the party’s implementation of the five promises that they had made before coming into power. He declared, “I am pleased to announce that we have fulfilled all of our commitments and achieved all of the assurances that we gave to the people of Karnataka.” He further added, “This is a historic moment for our party, as we have accomplished something that has never been done before.”
During his speech, the Chief Minister spoke about the Yuva Nidhi scheme, which has been implemented by the party. He stated that the scheme’s primary objective is to empower the young men and women of the state so they do not become disillusioned. The scheme aims to provide financial assistance to the youth of the state to pursue their dreams and aspirations.
